POLLING NOTICE

Notice is hereby given to the Electors of the Sagamok Anishnawbek that a poll will be held to elect a Chief and twelve (12) Councillors on Wednesday the 15th day of August 2018, from nine (9:00) a.m. until eight (8:00) p.m. at the Millenium Centre.

 

The votes will be counted at the Millenium Centre immediately after the close of the Poll. The results will be declared immediately following the count. If you will not be available to vote in person, arrange for a mail in ballot by contacting the Electoral Officer at the below contact info.

Please take note for the counting of ballots procedure: ballots will be split in to 2-3 groups & counted by Deputy Electoral Officers at separate tables; scrutineers will keep tally. At regular intervals candidate count updates will be posted for the community in attendance. This procedure will allow the count to finish earlier.

Important Dates concerning this year's election!

 

Monday, June 4

  • Posting of nomination meeting, voters list and election date in the community
  • Notices will be mailed out to off-reserve members.

Wednesday, July 4

  • Nomination Meeting from 6-9pm at the New Community Hall

Monday, July 9

  • Last day for candidates to withdraw their nominations.

Thursday, July 12

  • Posting of Polling Notice
  • Voting packages (containing Notice of Poll, Ballots, Letter, etc.) mailed out to off-reserve voting members. 

Friday, August 3

  • Deadline to update your Contact Information to receive a voting package.  
  • Please ensure your contact information is current so that you can be sent a voter package!

Wednesday, August 15

  • Election Day at the Millenium Centre.  Polls open at 9am and close at 8pm.  

Thursday, August 16

  • Election Officer will inform off-reserve members of the elected Chief and Council.
