Sagamok launches extra Garbage Collection Day during Bear Season

Sagamok Anishnawbek News - July 17, 2018

To help reduce attractants for bears this summer season, Planning & Infrastructure has announced that it will be launching a second weekly day to collect household garbage waste.

Currently, Sagamok households put their garbage out to the curb by 7am on Thursdays.  They do the same with their recycling on Tuesdays.

Sagamok households can now put out their garbage to the curb by 7am on Mondays as well as Thursdays.  Recycling remains unchanged.

When bear season ends in late autumn, garbage collection services are intended to revert back to a single weekday.

Households are reminded that there is a set-out limit of two bags and garbage bags should be placed in a container with a lid.  In the event animals tear into waste, it is the homeowner's responsiblity to clean up the debris.
