RE: UPDATE ON COVID-19 HEALTH & SAFETY MEASURES

The Chief Medical Officer of Health for Ontario has announced its most recent COVID-19 health and safety measures for workplaces, schools, and childcare centres in the province. The following provides the new directivesthat will come into effect on Monday June 20, 2022, as we have no documented new cases of COVID 19 in the community over the last several weeks and measures have been taken to safeguard the school and daycare environments with HEPA Filter Units installed in each classroom since April 2022.

 

1. SHKI WAASE-AABAN BINOOJIINH GAMIK

a) Screening

Staff will no longer be required to complete the online screening https://covid-19.ontario.ca/screening/worker/ tool, only when exhibiting symptoms and directed to stay at home from work. At that time the form must be emailed to daycare@sagamok.ca for attendance purposes.

b) Masks and PPE are optional for staff use. Supplies will be provided by the Centre upon request.

c) Hand Hygiene, Respiratory Etiquette, Cleaning and Disinfecting will continue as per Shki Waase-Aaban Binoojiinh Gamik Pandemic Policy. The cleaning and disinfection procedures under the pandemic policy with continue until June 30, 2022, at which time staff will revert to the Shki Waase-Aaban Binoojiinh Gamik Policy and Procedures Manual requirements.

d) Visitors are encouraged to complete temperature and screening forms before entering facility.

e) Daily Attendance will continue to be monitored by the School/Day Care Nurse and reported to the Director of Education to determine any impacts of COVID-19 related absenteeism in the Centre. It is imperative for parents/guardians to report their child’s absence to the Centre related to COVID-19 symptoms, positive test results, and health directives/instructions.

 

2. BIIDAABAN KINOOMAAGEGAMIK

a) Screening

If a child should exhibit any symptoms related to COVID-19 while attending school, the School/Day Care Nurse will assess the child and the child will be required to be picked up at school by the parent with further instructions. Staff are no longer required to complete the https://covid 19.ontario.ca/screening/worker/online screening tool, only when exhibiting symptoms and directed to stay home from work. At that time the form mustbe emailed to shawanda_paige@sagamok.cafor attendance purposes.

b) Masks and PPE are optional for students, staff and those riding school buses. The school will continue to provide masks as requested by staff and students. Bus monitors and van driver will continue to do cleaning and disinfecting of buses and van as usual and provide masks upon request.

c) Hand Hygiene, Respiratory Etiquette, Cleaning and Disinfecting will continue as per Biidaaban Kinoomaagegamik Pandemic Policy for school and transportation services.

d) Cohorting – gatherings are now acceptable, unless otherwise directed in writing by the Principal.

e) Visitors are required to complete temperature and screening forms when entering school facility.

f) Daily Attendance will be monitored by the School/Day Care Nurse and reported to the Director of Education to determine the impacts of COVID-19 related absenteeism in the School. It is imperative for parents/guardians to report their child(ren)’s absence to the School related to COVID-19 symptoms, positive test results, and health directives/instructions.

 

3. ESPANOLA HIGH SCHOOL (EHS) STUDENTS

Mask wearing is optional, and supply will be available on buses as requested. Bus drivers will continue to do cleaning and disinfecting of buses until the end of the school year.

 

4. WAAWAASNOODE ADULT LEARNING CENTRE & ALL OTHER EDUCATION STAFF

Staff will no longer be required to complete the online screening https://covid-19.ontario.ca/screening/worker/tool, only when exhibiting symptoms and directed to stay at home from work. At that time the form must be emailed to abitong_anna@sagamok.ca. for attendance purposes.
