Implementing Traditional Learning with Western Learning with the enhancement of Five (5) Anishnaabemowin Speakers

How will this be Implemented? the use of Anishnaabemowin with students and staff throughout the day within the classroom.

Traditional Learning -Anishnaabe kinoomaagewin will be incorporated during the Western Learning of curriculum delivery.

Emphasis on AUDITORY Learning when teaching Anishnaabe Kinoomaagewinan.

The Language Speaker/Keeper will:

· be assigned to each grade to support classroom teacher;

· will co-plan Anishnaabe cultural activities with classroom teacher;

· Classroom Teacher will connect cultural activities to Mathematics and Language Arts, Science, Social Studies;

· Collaborate with Biidaaban Cultural/Elders Coordinator to invite community Elders/knowledge keepers into the classroom when safe to do so , to being part of the learning and with Zagamok Wasseyaankaan Teg (ZWT) for resources;

· Connect with Community Agencies i.e. Lands Resource and Environment; Community Wellness, community knowledge keepers to share their knowledge pertaining to topic.

· Enable students to become functional speakers; that will engage them in conversations.

· improve the wellbeing and education of our children in spirit, mind and body.

· Assist Classroom Teacher and/or EA with recess supervision.

· Participate in PD activities and team meetings with Coordinator.
