Mask & Vaccination Mandates Suspended

Please be advised that Sagamok Chief and Council have decided to suspend its pandemic mandate policies related to the requirement to wear a mask in Sagamok workspaces and providing proof of vaccination.  This suspension is effective as of July 6, 2022.

This decision impacts employees, service providers, as well as visitors to Sagamok workspaces and community events.

This decision impacts all areas of Sagamok Anishnawbek’s operations, with the exception of the Elders Eagle Lodge for which the application of this policy remains under review.  Please expect updates on this matter soon.

Employees, service providers and visitors are now left with a choice to wear masks and maintain their vaccination.  Those staff who may have been placed on unpaid leave of absence early this past winter will be called back to work.

Please know that the suspension of these pandemic mandates comes as the conditions of the pandemic now allow us to feel relatively safe in moving towards more normalized pre-pandemic operations, but that they may be reinstated as the COVID-19 situation may evolve.  The Sagamok Anishnawbek Emergency Operations Control Group (EOCG) will continue to monitor the situation carefully and adjust its approach as needed.

Sagamok Anishnawbek continues to provide Case Management services to assist those families and individuals who are impacted by COVID-19 in our community.  Residents are asked to continue reporting positive Rapid Antigen Test results to the Community Wellness Department during regular business hours (Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm).

Sagamok Anishnawbek will also continue to coordinate vaccination clinics in the Sagamok community for those residents who want to keep current on their vaccinations.
