COVID-19 Vaccines & Sagamok Anishnawbek

Sagamok Anishnawbek Community Wellness Department has been working closely with Public Health Sudbury & Districts (PHSD) to secure safe effective vaccines and develop a plan to deliver them to the Sagamok community. To date, our progress has been:

In early February 2021, the Elders Eagle Lodge was included as a part of Long Term Care and Congregate Living Settings across the PHSD to receive the vaccine.

On Friday February 19, 2021, PHSD now advises that more vaccines are becoming available, advancing phase one of the vaccination program to include all members of Sagamok. The vaccination program is due to start sometime next month (March 2021) though the date(s) has yet to be finalized. Due to the limited supply of vaccines at this time, Sagamok will commence roll out of the program to focus on prioritizing members 55 years and older. As vaccines become more available, the PHSD and Sagamok will continue planning and rollout until all consenting community members are vaccinated.

In order to prepare for the vaccination roll out, a door-to-door campaign will start on Monday February 22, 2021 to register community members who are 55 years or older.

Please notify your family and friends that are over 55 years to contact the Community Wellness Department at 705.865.2171 and ask to speak with the COVID-19 Registrar. You may also call the COVID-19 Registrar to ask that they call upon any of your friends or family members and to ensure they have had an opportunity to participate.

On Monday February 22, we will also start collecting registrations for all community members. If you would like register for the COVID-19 vaccine, please call the Community Wellness Department Monday through Friday from 9:00 – 4:30 pm.

A mail out will also go out to all community members this week to provide information on how to register for the vaccination program.

Again, at this time, the vaccination program is due to start sometime next month (March 2021) though the date(s) has yet to be finalized. Therefore, we encourage all community members to register as soon as possible to prepare for the activation of the vaccine clinics.
