Memorandum: Parents of Espanola High School Students from Sagamok Director of Education
Posted: Feb 25, 2021

FEBRUARY 25, 2021

Please be advised that our buses were rerouted, back home, this morning due to notice received from the Rainbow District School Board. As a precautionary measure for the health and safety of our students and families, and as discussed with Kristina Rivard Gobbo (EHS Principal), our Sagamok students will not be returning to class until Wednesday March 3rd, 2021 (pending further communications). Students are exempt from attendance during this period. Updates will be provided from my office if this return date should change in the future.

If you have not received a copy of the Updated symptom screening tool and isolation requirements for Rainbow District Board Schools (RDSB), I have attached, to this directive, for your information. Please follow the instructions provided in the event that your student exhibits a symptom listed on the screening tool.

In the interim, students will move from in class to online learning through access on the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) platform offered at EHS. If students require Chrome Books and other supplies, please contact Josephine Toulouse (Secondary Student Support Worker) at (705) 865-2421 (ext. 246) no latter than Friday February 26, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. for pick up at EHS and delivery to your home. A further communication notice will be sent to parents and students from the RDSB Communications Branch on further home school instructions for our students.

Waawaasnoode Adult Learning Centre is open for EHS students who require assistance accessing the VLE platform, use of computers and lap tops in the classroom (located upstairs of Multi Educational Building), and tutoring services. All Covid precautions will be followed when accessing our services, i.e., screening, mask required, sanitization, etc. If you wish to access these services please call (705) 865-2421 (extensions 281 or 252) for assistance.

If we all do our part, we can continue to protect our families and community. If you have any questions, please call either Claudette Fournier (Executive Assistant) or myself at ext. 235 or 246. Miigwetch and stay safe!
