TRANSPORTATION DRIVER

Part-time & Relief Transportation Driver

 

Job Summary:

The Day Care Transportation Driver provides transportation services for Sagamok Anishnawbek children.  Transportation services shall include daily transport from the home to the day care in the morning and in the afternoon.  The Day Care Transportation Driver shall safely operate and maintain the Day Care transportation program vehicle, collect and input daily transportation logs, and consult with the Day Care Supervisor in the planning and delivery of transportation services for children.  The hours of service may on occasion include transportation services during Day Care activities/excursions.  This position is subject to Sagamok Anishnawbek personnel and administrative policies, Day Care policies and procedures, and relevant laws, regulations.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Daily transport of children to and from homes to Day Care, maintaining a pre-arranged schedule.
  2. Consult with the Day Care Supervisor in regards to scheduling of day care transportation schedules/clients, and any requirements for additional transportation services i.e. activities/excursions. 
  3. Transfer daily logs from the Day Care Transportation vehicle to the Day Care Supervisor as per Day Care transportation policy.
  4. Manage the exchange of information in a manner that respects confidentiality.
  5. In the event of an emergency assist Day Care staff with transfer of children in and out of the Day Care Transportation vehicle as required.
  6. Transfer wheelchairs, scooters or other medical equipment into vehicle, using a ramp where available, as required.
  7. Maintain a daily log book of all transportation activity as per policy and forms provided, odometer reading at time of departure and return, and other data to be identified.
  8. Conduct daily safety inspections check of Day Care Transportation vehicle prior to departure and upon returning.
  9. Conduct regular maintenance of Day Care Transportation vehicle (oil changes and other basic maintenance).
  10. Schedule and transport Day Care Transportation vehicle for other maintenance and repairs as required.
  11. Comply with relevant Unit, Band, and funding accountability standards (including but not limited to personnel, program and administrative forms; narrative and data program reports, evaluation and quality assurance practices).
