Qualifications/Terms & Conditions: 1. Post-secondary education in a technician program/related field or minimum Grade 12. 2. Minimum one year work experience in office setting. 3. Good oral and written communication skills. 4. Computer skills and internet research 5. Developed interpersonal skills and effectively work as a team with management and employees. 6. Ability to work with minimal supervision. 7. Experience with Microsoft office applications is considered an asset.

Water Research Assistant

Term Contract (up to 4 months)

Job Summary:

The Water Research Assistant will research and prepare educational materials for community members about water contamination and water borne illnesses and shall report to the Director of Planning & Infrastructure Director.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To conduct research on water contamination and water borne illnesses
  • To prepare educational materials for the public, community members
  • Conduct surveys.
  • Assist water treatment plant operators on water sampling inland lakes, landfill, and soil sampling.
  • Input data to water system database
  • Promote safe drinking water at community events
  • Water quality monitoring
  • Develop and deliver educational materials to increase public awareness and knowledge
  • Attend and participate in regular Planning & Infrastructure team meetings.
  • Ensure that all records and files are up to date.
  • Perform other duties as required.
